A Struggling Food Manufacturer
Situation:
This food manufacturer was focused on selling their
ethnic product in a highly commoditized marketplace
against big-money competitors with whom they could
not compete. Equipment and resources were being
under-utilized and sales were focused on pushing the
company’s own ethnic-label product. Sales were
spiraling down, key customers were leaving and the
future looked bleak.
Solution:
The Cultivation Corps was hired by the owners to
create a strategy to rejuvenate the company. We
began by analyzing the company’s existing production
opportunities and creating a strategy that would
fully utilize the over capacity. We grew a new
custom, service-oriented sales model, opening up the
company to a whole new product line that the
equipment was capable of producing yet that the
owners had not been able to foresee. A new sales
structure was created, going directly between the
farm and the end user, which created tremendous
value by eliminating the sales and marketing cost of
middlemen.
Results:
Three hundred percent growth occurred in the first
two years, with six hundred percent growth over the
four years of undertaking the new strategy. The
company has established a healthy niche and
continues its extraordinary growth today.
